Reflecting - and Looking Ahead...

I'm reflecting on all of the blessings I have, the wonderful life my husband and I enjoy, our health, our new country life, and the many adventures still just around the corner.  I'm loving my little booth, and the fun I have "pickin" for it.  This little batch is waiting for some paint and primping before I price and tag!!

Hoping you all have a safe, prosperous and joy-filled New Year!!

I love wearing White

In the midst of our "blizzard" this week, I reflected on the differences between this one, and the one I went through in 1978 while living in Decatur, Illinois.  Lots of things have changed in my life, but one thing is for sure - - nature is the one constant we can all rely on.

I've been snowbound for two days - and can't wait for my husband to come home tomorrow!  Hope your family is cozy tonight!

Things to do during a blizzard...

We are under a blizzard advisory here in Indiana, and it is snowing like mad.  So much for all the folks posting on Face Book hoping we would get snowed in.  That would be wonderful - - I suppose - but I'm snowed in here, and my loving husband is working and stuck there 60 miles away.

The puppy, Griff, is just full of energy - and begging to go back outside every 15 minutes or so.  The best thing about snow, however, is its just water - - so no residual mud tracked all about the house.

I decided to get prepared this morning, so I filled every large crock and pot I have in the house with water, just in case we lose power and my pump won't work.  Because I was also fearful that I'd freeze due to a power outage, I started the oven (propane) - and I naturally decided to bake a pie (I wouldn't want to starve, mind you) and it's now cooling....   Of course no real push needed there.  Any old excuse will do for me to make something sweet!

Internet browsing and saving inspiration pictures is very relaxing to me, and I've posted some of my recent loves.  Because I've only taken baby-steps thus far with my vintage booth, I really enjoy looking at all the beautiful inspiration options out there posted by creative veterans, who are very willing to share what they've learned along their own journeys.  Total eye-candy.  I don't think I'll ever tire of surfing for ideas.

Hope your own day is a happy one.  Be safe in your travels.  If any of you have tips about blizzard survival - please feel free to post them here.  **wink**

A White Christmas on the Farm

This Christmas began with snow, and will have several more inches arriving tonight.  The best thing for me this year is the fact that I'm now happily retired, so driving in bad weather doesn't put a damper on the joy of seeing the fluffy white flakes drift down.  Our six month old puppy, Griff, is truly enjoying prancing around through the large 4 acre lawn, and we are enjoying his long peaceful naps once he's back inside the warm house.

Hope this holiday season finds you and yours safe, happy and blessed.  May all your dreams be realized in the New Year!

Brrrr

I can't believe that it is already Friday!  These past few weeks have literally flown by.  I suppose its the fact that the days are so much shorter.  By the time we have supper and I get the kitchen tidied up, we're off to beddy-bye!

Today is a Rockville day.  My wonderful and dependable Buick has had a hiccup of late:  a new battery and now repairs to the heater.  One thing you can't have here in the country is a broken dual-heater.  Luckily, the driver's side is operational, but the passenger side blows icey cold air at the same time.  The repair will be just over $400 (YIKES), but necessary.  All my booth profits going to car repairs...sigh.

I have enjoyed my blog-hopping this morning.  The posts I read truly bolster me up and give me so many ideas and such inspiration - - - a total joy.  The Gathering Place is a new find.  What a lovely compiliation of thoughts, creations and beautiful pictures.  A touching post about Alzheimer's and her father brought me to tears.  Such a lonely and sad affliction - for those that have it, and those who must observe it.

Enjoy your day!  Don't carry tomorrow's burdens with you.  They'll be here soon enough!

The French Hen - Booth #4 at Finders Keepers on the Rockville Square

New Country Adventures

Dean G and I moved to our country home late last year.  It is so peaceful and beautiful - a wondrous world of nature, quiet and a constantly changing landscape!
